There are records of the hotel since 1764, as being the oldest one on
the Iberian Peninsula and one of the first of its kind in Europe.
In 1780, it was opened to the public as Hotel Lawrence. Later on,it
became, in 1850, "English Hostess", property of Mr. Duran. Later
probably around 1900 it was sold to Mr.
Miguel David Gallaway.
In 1935, a lady from Czechoslovakia, who was called Matia Jonavcova,
bought the property and rebuilt it.
In 1949 it was sold to Mr. And Mrs. J. Bos.
In 1999 it was re-opened to the public as Lawrence Hotel: it is a five star
hotel, with a cosy atmosphere, offering16 rooms of which are suites, decorated
in a romantic style.
